Roofing across Livingston County

On Top Roofing has worked out of 5896 Sterling Dr in Howell since 2010. Howell is the county seat and sits close to the middle of Livingston County, so every town in the county is a short drive for our crews. That matters more than it sounds. When a storm comes through, we can get to your roof quickly, and when a job is done we are still here next year if you need us.

Livingston County is not one kind of place. A 1920s house near downtown Howell, a 2004 subdivision in Genoa Township, a lake cottage on the Chain of Lakes and a pole barn outside Fowlerville all need different things from a roof. Each of our town pages explains what we see in that town: the age of the homes, who issues the roofing permit, and what the local storm record shows.

Howell, Genoa and Oceola townships

The City of Howell has older homes and steeper roofs near downtown, with large subdivisions spreading out around it. Many of those 1990s and 2000s subdivisions still have their original roofs, and they are reaching the age where repairs stop making sense. See roof replacement in Howell and roof repair in Howell.

Brighton and Green Oak Township

Brighton is really two places for roofing: the City of Brighton and Brighton Township, and the permit rules are different in each. Lakes, mature oaks and older roofs under heavy shade are common here. See roof replacement in Brighton and roof repair in Brighton.

Hartland and the northeast corner of the county

Hartland mixes newer subdivisions with homes on larger lots and private septic systems, so we plan where trucks and dumpsters go before the job starts. See roof replacement in Hartland and roof repair in Hartland.

Pinckney, Hamburg and the lake communities

The southeast corner of the county is lake country. Cottages that were turned into year-round homes often have low-slope additions and roofs that were never built for full-time heating, which shows up as ice dams in winter. See roof replacement in Pinckney and Hamburg, roof repair in Pinckney and roof repair in Hamburg Township.

Fowlerville and the western townships

Out toward Fowlerville the county turns rural, with farmhouses, barns and outbuildings alongside newer homes. We roof all of them. See roof replacement in Fowlerville and roof repair in Fowlerville.

What Livingston County weather does to a roof

Livingston County gets more severe weather than most people expect. NOAA's Storm Events Database recorded 74 confirmed severe weather events in the county between January 2020 and May 2026, most of them thunderstorm winds, along with nine hail events. Wind often breaks the seal between shingles without tearing them off, and hail can bruise a shingle without leaving a mark you can see from the ground. If a storm came through your area, a free roof inspection is the way to know for sure. Our storm damage page has the full storm record.

If your town isn't listed, call us. There's a good chance we already work near you.
